  • OffMaps lets you download "base maps" of a city, and then you can choose to download particular areas in more specific detail. The maps don't require a connection of any kind, which is great if you don't have Wi-Fi and/or GPRS/3G access—particularly useful if you're traveling abroad and don't want to incur high data roaming charges or you don't have a data connection and still want to find your way around. And since your iPhone's GPS location works without access to a data network, you can still find where you are on the map without a data connection.

The maps are often huge downloads (they can vary from 100 to 200 MB per base map). The app also lets you access Wikipedia entries offline, and includes two city guides of your choice through two "free" tokens. OffMaps has an extensive array of locations.

OffMaps is available in the iTunes App Store for $1.99, and comes with two tokens. Tokens are required to download city guides, and additional tokens can be purchased. -Lifehacker

  • Demo site for showing Google Docs to people who don't have an account. It refreshes every hour. Very nice.

  • With thousands of files and even more codes, Windows can be a complicated piece of software if things don’t go smoothly. Quite often it throws a weird system error code at you like 09x or 0×5 without any further explanation. ErrorGoblin is a simple website that provides you with an explanation for Windows error codes so you can try to resolve them.

To see the explanation, just enter the error code like 0×2 or 0xe2 and ErrorGoblin will tell you what it means. No registration required and nothing to install or download. Moreover, if you have an error code that ErrorGoblin doesn’t have an explanation for, email them and chances are they will include it in their list. -mashable
