Pre-November Tech Challenge

Okay, it’s not November, but I couldn’t wait to roll out the next tech challenge. It’s coming next week, this year’s K12 Online Conference. This free, online conference is for educators “interested in innovative ways Web 2.0 tools and technologies can be used to improve learning.” This is a wonderful learning opportunity. It features an impressive lineup of edtech gurus/educators from around the world.

The conference presentations are archived online, available 24/7 for you to access at your convenience. So, even though the content of the conference is posted in October, you can access it months later.  The conference begins with a pre-conference keynote by Stephen Heppell on Monday, October 13, 12:00 PM GMT. The following two weeks, October 20-24 and October 27-31, forty presentations will be posted online. In addition, 4 live events (3 Fireside Chats and the When Night Falls Finale) are on the schedule.

Our District allows teachers to count participation in these sessions for Salary Advancement Hours. Willard teachers seeking credit need to:

  1. Complete a reflection for the session using the Willard K12 Online Conference Credit Form.
  2. Submit your reflection to the K12 Online Conference blog as a comment.
  3. After your comment is approved, view it and click the “Credit Certificate” link to print your certificate.

Willard Salary Advancement Hours
Attach a copy of your Credit Certificate to a Salary Advancement Hours form to provide the summary of the workshop. Complete the rest of the form. For each non-keynote conference session you earn 1 workshop point. For keynote presentations, which are longer, you earn 1.5 workshop points.

Willard Tech Challenge: For each presentation you view, your name will be placed in a drawing for a Flip Mino Camcorder. Just send me a copy of your Salary Advancement Hours form to put in the drawing that will take place on February 13th. Three cameras will be awarded.
